The Agência Nacional de Mineração (ANM) participated on August 30th, in Marabá (PA), in a technical cooperation event promoted by the Federal Police of the municipality to deal with the fight against illegal mining in the south and southeast of Pará. The objective was to provide technical knowledge to the criminal prosecution agencies, the Judiciary and support agencies in the fight against illegal mining.
At the meeting, the issue of unbridled manganese exploitation in the regions of Sereno and Vila União, in Marabá and Curionópolis, as well as illegal mining on indigenous lands and Full Protection Conservation Units, was addressed.
Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Federal Justice Department, the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), and the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama).
